Unlike light armor, medium armor provides enhanced protection with the inclusion of some plating and a metal helmet. This plating gives it a chance to deflect swings from bladed weapons, preventing damage. However, this defense is ineffective against blunt weapons, which will damage the armor regardless of its plating.
